Texas leads nation in socio-economic growth

Texas cities dominate a list of those with the highest economic growth.

Texas is leading the way as the economy continues to rebound from the Great Recession, according to an analysis by WalletHub, a personal finance social network based in Washington, D.C.
The web site looked at 516 U.S. cities of various sizes to determine who was experiencing the most rapid socio-economic growth and Texas cities dominate the list.
San Antonio ranks No. 5 among large cities — behind Austin, Fort Worth, New Orleans and Denver — and 31st overall. Irving, Texas led in the medium city category while Mission, Texas, was tops in the small city category.
WalletHub looked at a variety key metrics to make its final list. Here is how San Antonio stacked up:

  • 148th – Population Growth
  • 117th – Income Growth
  • 136th – Job Growth
  • 43rd – Poverty Rate Decrease
  • 102nd – Regional GDP Growth
  • 116th – Unemployment Rate Decrease
  • 130th – Population Growth of Workers
